Advocacy & Awareness for Immune Disorders Association (AAIDA)
AAIDA’s 3rd patient-focused educational event at Discovery Place Science in Charlotte, N.C from 5:30-9:00pm Originally planned for May 2020, AAIDA postponed our signature event to April 17th, 2021 due to Covid-19 pandemic.
AAIDA will host multiple speakers and various hands-on learning activities for children and adults alike!
Keynote Speaker for the evening, Michael Volz, MD, is a practicing Allergist & Immunologist in Denver C.O, past President of the Colorado Medical Society and currently sits on the House of Delegates for the American Medical Association (AMA). Dr. Volz has also served as President for the Colorado Allergy & Asthma Society and Medical Director for the American Association of Colorado Asthma Camps.
Dr. Volz will present: “To Vaccinate or Not to Vaccinate: That is the Question”
Julie Gibbons, MSN, MPH, BSN, RN, Queens University of Charlotte & Presbyterian School of Nursing, Topic: “Communicating with Your Child’s School”
Jessica Goddard, Young Adult Speaker, University of South Carolina Topic: “Chronic Illness 101: A Young Adult Patient Perspective”
AAIDA is also excited to partner with Planet Improv for our family-focused extravaganza event! Scott Pacitti, Founder of Planet Improv, will be conducting two unique, hands-on learning experiences for adults and children of all ages. Participants will be taught skills on how to better manage and regulate their emotions while living with a chronic illness in a fun-filled way. Don’t miss out on this educational extravaganza! Light appetizers will be provided and options changed every hour. We will have allergy-free food options available, including gluten and dairy free items. Cash bar will be available with select beer and wine options. Parking is included in ticket purchase.

All proceeds go to AAIDA’s mission and purpose to educate patients and providers alike, to advocate for patients living with immune dysregulation disorders and to create awareness about specific immune disorders, all the while making strides in research to find cures and novel treatment options for these diseases.
